About NAMI Northern Lakes

NAMI Northern Lakes is a group of Northwoods volunteers that provides support, education and advocacy in Forest, Vilas and Oneida Counties, on behalf of individuals and families affected by mental illness. All NAMI programs are free. If you can contribute to help us continue these services, click on the Donate Now button at the top of the page.

Don't suffer in silence. We can help each other, with compassion and knowledge.

Our Founding

NAMI Northern Lakes was founded in March, 2011, by a group of Northwoods residents responding to a call to action by our founder, Audrey Kissinger. Audrey had two adult sons with serious and persistent mental illness. She first got involved with NAMI in southeast Wisconsin, and when she moved home to the Northwoods, she decided to start a chapter here.
